Joan Korenblit
Author-Educator
Main Focus
Focusing on topics that promote acceptance of diversity as well as support for the ecology and respect for animals, Joan shares the joys of writing short stories and poetry in Tolerance Through Writing classes for pre-schoolers through eighth graders. Joan also conducts Language Arts Through Writing teacher workshops.
Teachers, who dread giving writing assignments because grading papers can be overwhelming, will be delighted to learn ways to incorporate writing activities throughout the day without multiplying their own work-load. By using Joan's classroom-tested activities that stimulate creativity and clarity, scores on writing tests will go up, and writing will become a natural part of life for students. During workshops, teachers participate in writing sessions, experiencing what their students will soon experience -- the joys of writing. Yet there is a twist; through writing, students understand respect for diversity.
Other Offerings
Keeping tolerance themes in mind, Joan teaches writing classes, workshops, and seminars. Many of Joan's students become published authors in newspapers, magazines, and books. Students and teachers may select the genre, the topic(s), and the product, i.e. anthologies, newspapers, a class book or individual books.
